Home to more than 10,700 manufacturing establishments, Houston has a huge variety of manufacturing companies. Being a Houstonian who wants to see this city prosper, I like to purchase locally produced goods. Recently, I bought a new mattress, but it never occurred to me that I could buy a local product—you guessed it—there are several mattress manufacturers in Houston. One of them, Houston Mattress Factory, is not only local but also a family-owned/operated business. The business began as a Proprietorship in 1955, and the parent company, Restline Bedding Products, Inc. was chartered in 1958. Over the last fifty plus years, they have manufactured numerous styles of mattresses, box springs, foundation systems, pillows, frames, and even wooden bunk bed systems.
Today, Houston Mattress Factory manufactures all standard sizes and custom size mattress units for any need, be it antique furniture, RV applications, trucks, marine, or decorator items; they always have at least one round mattress set on the showroom floor. Today, the company specializes in designing SenSurPedic Mattresses and the perfect fitting SenSurPedic Mattress Toppers for all standard and custom mattress sizes… one of their most popular mattresses and comfort pad systems based upon the NASA technology of Visco Elastic Foam. This material supports your body without pushing back at you, it molds to your body based upon both your body temperature and its physical stress points, (i.e. “weightless sleep”). They also manufacture mattresses from inner springs and many other types of foam, including a synthetic, hypo-allergenic latex material.
They can build a mattress for an antique post bed that is as comfortable as the bed is beautiful. Most antique bed frames are smaller - in both length and width - than today's mattresses ... because of this, all four canopy posts are often within the footprint of a standard size mattress. Allowing them to custom build a mattress system for your Antique Bed that fits within the bed furniture, yet still provides a standard size mattress sleep area.
They offer adjustable beds which add a versatile function to any system without changing the 'look & style' of the bedroom setting. Adjustable bed mechanisms come in all standard mattress sizes. The mechanisms for larger mattresses are available for both single and double mattress arrangements.
You might want to go check out their showroom floor at Interstate 45 and Telephone in the big pink building! The store hours and days of operation are Monday - Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm or by special appointment. If you want more information, give them a call at (713) 921-1900 or (800) 324 -5678.
